Buy a book for the library

THE NORTH Vancouver District
Library is 25 years old, and as part
of the festivities, patrons are being
asked to buy a book for the
library.

Initiated by a $250 grant from a
long-time borrower, this project is
now spotlighted at each of the
library’s three branches.

Patrons simply take the card of
their choice from the display in the

library to the information desk,
where their gift can be processed
(cash or cheque). A receipt is
issued immediately, followed
shortly by another ‘‘official’’
receipt for income tax purposes as
a charitable donation.

When the book arrives at the
library, the donor is the first to
receive it and a gift plate
acknowledging the donation is
placed in the book.

Potential book buyers who do
not see a particular title that ap-
peals from the cards displayed,
may make a donation and library
staff will make the selection.
