Workshop targets
local folk songs

LONG-TIME North Vancouver
mayor and sometime songwriter
Charles Cates will be featured in a
series of musical workshops spon-
sored by the Vancouver Folk
Music Society.

Held in Vancouver Nov. 1-2, the
workshop series will feature songs
from Cates’ large collection of
verse.

Other workshops include songs
of work and working people, song
writing, women's songs, political
protest songs and songs of Quebec
and Acadia.

The weekend’s events will be
held at the Education Building at
the University of B.C. from 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. For more informa-
