outcry to save service man-
ager Harry Kerstiens, his
revered staff and his three
service bays, Texaco market-
ing manager Gene Marklund
said his company would
rethink its proposal to
remove the old service bays
to replace them with a car
wash, full and self-serve gas
bars and mini food mart.

About 20 residents, sup-
ported by many more, got
up at Monday night's North
Vancouver District Council
meeting and told council to

reject Texaco’s proposal.

Residents said they wanted

Marklund said he would

quested council to defer its
decision on Texaco’s present
application permit until
mid-January.

Any changes will have to
be approved by Marklund's
head office in the East.
