But you’d be relieved to find that the tame change was only temporary, and that the men were from the local chapter of the Morris Dancers. The local team, the Van- couver Morris men, rehearses once a week at a school in North Vancouver. Many of their dances are countless centuries old and the Morris MORRIS DANCERS kick up their heels at the Troller Pub. The Vancouver Morris Men can often be seen there, whether to chase evil spirits out of the pub, or (o enjoy the home brewed beer at the Troller, no one is quite sure. at AMITYVILLE 3D Capttol, 2:45, 5:00, 7:20, 9:20 A CHRISTMAS STORY Park Royal, 7:15, 915, Mats. They dance not only for their own enjoyment, but to show the unsuspecting and often startled citizenry the simple pleasures of England’s pastoral past. The dances, unsuspected by the mass of their observers, have mean- ings which go back into anti- quity, folk lore and super- suuon. Behind the light fan- tastic is the dark fantastic! The dances themselves come from different parts of England, but the most popular sequences come from the Cotswold Hills area of central England — a Mor- ris stronghold.
