THREE MAJOR drug seizures in West Vancouver im five
days required none of the tghtly coordinated raids which
resulted in the $3 million LSD bust carried out by North
Vancouver RCMP in the same period.

Police in West Van ob-
tained significant quantities
of heroin, cocaine and
marijuana - and it would
have been hard for them to
have put less fuss or effort
into the seizures.

The seizures were totally
unplanned. Two of the busts
occurred as a_ result of
routine vehicle checks - one
right outside police
headquarters. Most
significant of the drug hauls
was handed over to them -
voluntarily.

The first seizure occurred
February 18, as a result of a
routine check of a vehicle on
the Trans Canada Highway
at Westmount.

Police allege a uniformed
officer stopped the vehicle
and found a pound bag of
Marijuana in it, worth

drug haul of the three.

A local parent called the
police to tell them two
children had found a
suspicious package while
playing in a derelict house
mear the beach at Dun-
darave.

Police found the package
contained 62 small plastic
bags of high grade heroin,
which together weighed five
ounces and had a street
value estimated at $1
million.
