C6-Sunday News, September 28, 1980 TRAVEL COMPANIONS AREN'T ALWAYS PERFECT What makes a good travel companion? Unfortunately, many people are at the mercy of the fickle finger of fate when it comes to choosing someone to spend their vacation with. Ask any single woman — things like work schedules, money and family responsibilities of friends really limit the availability of choice companions, especially for extended and expensive foreign travel. Many would-be travellers settle for anyone they can find with the time and money but that has led to disaster on more than one occasion. Imagine these scenes: © You embark on a cruise ship with your neighbor's sister. After two days you discover that she snores like a bulldozer, piles her dirty laundry behind the bathroom door and uses every towel in the place. e Or, same lady indiscretely or otherwise, beds every male on the ship. Single or otherwise. Nineteen guys figure that you're running the same sort of operation and come on like gang- busters. * How about the gal who finds her travel companion constantly short of cash? She finds that her wallet gets levied for taxis, tips, snacks and drinks. Somehow the “loans” never are repaid. find your pet inthe NEWS J classifleds 986-6222 | slightly damaged products are sold atup to Mon, - Sat. 9230 - 5:00 Westlynn Mall Where day old breads and 50 Yo off 288 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver by Barbara McCreadie WE one time or another, have fallen victim to this kind of con-artistry but it’s a lot easier to cope with at home. Several people have asked to see it again — one reader said that just the taking of the quiz broke the ice between her and her prospective partner so much that it was the standing joke during a European vacation where' everything went wrong. Their dialogue went shops. Glad it helped.
