But while the film offers open-thrattic thrills for car junkies, it rans empty of believ- ability and surprises carly on. ‘a Fith Avenue isa ~ The basic plot — and it is basic — is as fol- lows: Memphis Raines (Nicholas Cage) is a car thief who’s gone straight, but whose legacy 5 lives on in his kid brother Kip (Giovanni bisi). Only a fanatical love of cars will make you love this movie. But then, sharp dialogue and plot twists . aren’t Bruckheimer fare. This is the man who brought us Armaggeden and Top Gur. You can almost hear him yelling “More fire! I need more explosions!” off camera. __.
