Gautreau said one of the boys was searching under the Christmas tree with a cigarette lighter when the tree caught fire. “1 was putting my laundry in downstairs, and 1 couldn't get up the stairs,” Gautreau said. “Then all hell broke loose. E started screaming and told him t run out the back door. The other seudent ran with him. The other boy was in the back room. He heard me screaming downstairs and he got out the front door.” Gautreau said she was overwhelmed by the generosity of the good samaritans who gave them shoes and clothing at the scene to k warm. One man even gave her the coat off h back. Izate and Gautreau contacted property manager Donna Pinkowski who found them a new place to rent in Lynn Valley.
