She is a member of the Seymour Ladies Golf Club and the Burnaby Ladies Golf” Club, and is on the Flower Committee of the West Vancouver United Church. She also enjoys 10-pin bow!- ing, playing the organ, and entertaining in her home. Active in her earlier years, Eric is still a balt of energy — despite the tragic loss of her hus- band and son. Erie believes, “Whatever you do, do it the best you can.” This she did, as a homemaker, volunteer, singer, athlete, and a strict, demanding musical group leader. Eric was born in Saskatoon in 1919. ‘This vivacious lady was educated there, and partici- pated in softball, basketball, speed skating and singing. After high school, she attended busi- north shore news ENIORS Erie focuses on the sweet not the sour ness college in Saskatoon, landing a job with Metropolitan Lite Insurance upon graduation. In 1945, Erie met her fiature husband, Ken Cunningham, in Saskatoon, They married in 1946 and moved to the North Shore in 195], where Erie has lived ever since, apart from six years in ‘Toronto while Ken was working, there. Feeling the need to help others who were less fortunate, Erie volunteered at Pearson Hospital at least once a week — and some- times twice — for 25 years. She looked after a guadriplegic girl, age sixteen at the time. At the Capilano Winter Club, Erie formed a musical group called The Sweet & Sours with 15 other curling ladies. She was the con- ductor and lead singer, and also played a ukulele.
