Chrissie married Vern in 1944 and moved to Red Deer, Alberta, then back to Lethbridge where she helped her dad in his butcher shop for five years while Vern was over- seas in the RCAF, She nor only “did” the books, and learned how to make sausages and ground meat, but made deliveries by truck. “That part was sometimes hard, because in winter the streets were icy, and the dri- - ving was tough,” Chrissie says. “But I always made iv.” After the war, in 1947, “Chrissie and Vern came to the coast and settled in North Vancouver. Their son was born ’ ~ and Chrissie’s life took on new young and the fathers were busy, Chrissie became involved with the Cubs organization and joined another woman in assisting the Akcla (leader) at the Capilano Hall. During these years, the three Hobsons spent their holidays at Lethbridge and LaCombe, Alberta. Energy and desire pro- pelled Chrissie to excel as a home-maker, a great cook and hostess. Before Vern retired from his job as a construction supervisor for Kelly Douglas, Chrissie did a lot of gardening in addition to her other activi- ties, but always found time for her hobbies. Their clegant home is a reflection of her artistic and creative mind and exhibits exquisite pieces of her works such as porcelain dolls, vases, figurines, bowls, lamps, plant pots, birds and animals. She still does a splendid job at running their spacious and comfortable home, entertain- ing friends and hosting the occasional party. When need- ed, Chrissie lends a hand at her daughrer-in-law’s shop, Among Friends. in Lynn Valley Centre.
