Between 400 and 500 units a day are needed to support all of B.C.’s hospi- tals, Lee said. "Tf that amount of blood is not col- lected, then “surgery will be cancelled,” he added. Lee said he’s positive that North Shore residents will respond to the call for help. “When .the ‘call goes out, North Vancouver citizens come out in great . numbers,” said Lee. The Sept. 10 clinic at Lions Gate Hospital attracted more than 170 blood donors, nearly twice the average. The program partners artists with arts organizations to dev clop projects for public . participation. The first, and last, time the program ran 7 was the fall of 95. The program’s survival is dependent on the availability of fiunds. - | Artists must submit their proposals by “Friday to be eligible for the program. Two o projects will be selected. Each will receive: ~ $2,500 in funding. Submissions must include: name and ~ credentials of the participating artist; the name of a sponsoring community group or © | agency; the goals and objectives of pro- posed project; a detailed outline of the community’s involvement and benefit, and. a project budget and time line.
