Whimsical art to show 4 WEST VANCOUVER folk artist Carol Shumas’s whimsical paint- ings will be displayed at the Ferry Building Gallery from Oct. 16-21, Forming the exhibit are a varied selection of recent oils on canvas. Long-inspired by such musicals as Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Paint Your Wagon, Shumas’s farm scenes will be featured in this one-week show. Other works include her chess .board renditions and large, whimsical paintings of cats. For her piece Feline Fantasia, Shumas has painted over 100 tuxedo-clad cats playing various musical in- struments.
