W.VAN « Challenge 89 funds available CAPILANO-HOWE Sound MP Mary Collins recently announced 1989 funding levels for the Challenge program in Capilano- Howe Sound. The Challenge 89 Program assists students in finding summer employment by providing wage subsidies to potential employers. This year the federal government will be contributing a total of $340,646 to the private and public sectors as well as to non-profit organizations. Public sector assistance in the constituency will total $29,735 in 1989; employers in the private sec- tor will receive $144,914; and non-profit organizations will be receiving $165, Over the past four years the Challenge program has helped to pay for 330,000 summer jobs for Canadian students. This year’s program will help to provide more than 185 summer jobs for deserving students in Capifano-Howe Sound.
