Ladies Curling Association District One Playdowns in West Vancouver. Eleven rinks in the ladies’ divi- sion participated in the event with the Christa Kueber rink from the NSW defeating Karen Lepine from Royal City. Keuber had Laurie Carney at third, Sharon Schultz, second and Cathy Gould, lead. The Keuber rink advances to the B.C. ladies’ provincial playdowns in Prince Rupert on Jan. 26. In the senior ladies’ division, the Lill Row rink from Hollyburn remained undefeated throughout the competition. Mary Skwarok played third, Joan ingo, second and Joyce Minions, Jead. The team now represents District One at the B.C. senior ladies’ provincial playdowns in Kamloops from Feb. 8 to 13. The Janet Tupper rink of the NSWC won the junior ladies’ divi- sion in a round robin competition, with Stephanie Whittaker at third, Heather Mocksford second, and Michelle Parkin, lead. INDOOR SOCCER TOURNEY UBC defeats Cap UBC DEFEATED Capilano Col- lege 3-2 in the semi-finals at the Third Annual Rucanor indoor soccer tournament hosted by Capilano over the weekend. Capilano lost in overtime and penalty shots to UBC who went on to win in the finals against the SFU Cian Alumni 4-3. Cap Coach Joe Iacobellis said Cap played well overall despite los- ing to UBC. ‘‘We played very well. We were ahead in the UBC game 3-2 with two minutes to go in over- time.”’ The Clan Alumni beat the Nerth Shore Olympics 5-2 in the semi- finals but were defeated in the finals in overtime play. UBC's Gregor Young, from North Van- couver, scored two goals, with Neil Willkinson and Kevin Colbow scoring one goal each.
