By year-end, housing sales are now expected to total 28,000 units, 21 per cent more than the number of units sold in 1987. Although the rate of in- crease in the selling price of homes has moderated slight- ly from earlier in the year, prices are expected to con- tinue to rise. By year-end, the annua! average selling price of all residential pro- perties in the Vancouver area is forecast to reach $160,000, 21 per cent higher than the average selling price in 1987. The selling price of single- family detached homes is expected to rise 20 per cent to $180,000. Several factors have com- bined to stimulate the hous- ing market in Vancouver.
