Recently returned from two exhibitions in Paris and London, Gillmore has been labelled as an artist of such a talent that few can equal his artistic gifts. Filled with rapid movements and sudden changes, Gillmore’s art explores human forms with a force that marks him as one of the area’s most promising artists. With a group of so-called Young Romantics who appeared on the Vancouver art scene a few years ago, the artist's early works were heavily smeared with tar. Often disturbing and usually fascinating, Gillmore’s works have been displayed in galleries in Calgary, Winnipeg, London, Paris and, of course, Vancouver, Dealing with the human form in stark imagery, the New York-based artist uses deathly colors for forms that appear to be out of a human anatomy text book. The gallery is at 165 Water St. in Vancouver. For more details call 687-2629.
