SOME PEOPLE have all the
luck — but not the reader
who called me the other day
about her cruise to Alaska!

It seems that she booked
and paid for tickets for her
husband and herself to head
up the coast next month.
This month she discovered
that there’s every possibility
she might be pregnant.

Since she has an ‘iffy
stomach if the going gets
rough she has relied on
various medications— jatest
being the Transderm-V pat-
ches worn behind the ear.

Her main question for me
was about sea conditions —
just how rough is the going
likely to be? That's a tough
question to answer — no-
one can predict what the
weather can do,

Even protected water like
the Inside Passage can kick
up some good waves with
high winds, and open water
such as the Queen Charlotte
Sound can be an adventure,
as can Hecate Strait.

Mid-summer should pro-
vide ideal weather conditions
and normally a passenger
can expect just a couple of
hours of slight tossing,
round about Hecate.
