gets “raise
commiuttee’’

WiST VANCOUVER coun-
cil won't be voting itself any
more ‘tembarrassing’’ pay
raises.

On Monday night it
established the procedure
which will set up an indepen-
dent conimission to recom-

mend salaries for council and
mayor in the event that bien-
nial council elections are im-
plemented in 1986.

The independent commis-
siot, would recommend the
salaries to members of coun-
cil for the term of their of-
fice.

The three people picked
for the commission would be
comprised of West Van
residents “not having an ac-

live invelvement in political
life of the community.”

It would be called the
Council Satary Commission
(CSC), and according to the
new regualtions would be ap-
pointed by council prior to
May 31 in any year there will
be election of council
members.
