Gail Beatson, a Grade 11
student at Hillside, has been
chosen to represent the West
Vancouver Rotary Club at
the 1983 “Adventure in
Citizenship” to be held in
Ottawa May 8 to 12.

Each year the project
brings together, in the
nation’s capital, students
chosen for outstanding
achievements in their own
communities.

They are received by the
Governor-General, see par-
liament in action, visit the
national centres for the arts
and sciences, and meet
leaders in government, the
professions, the diplomatic
corps, business and educa-
tion at luncheons and
dinners.

There seem to be so many married couples -
becoming separated these days, from the
Prime Minister on down to many of my
friends. Why is this so? In California there is
a 50% divorce rate. Maybe marriage no
longer works in 1977 or perhaps the
respective partners do not have enough
foresight when they take their vows.

This week the Inquiring Reporter visited
Ambleside to ask:

“Is marriage obsolete?’”’
