On February 4, City council voted to protest to the Minister of Municipal Affairs about the addition, which will inform residents how much money the provincial government has saved them. City staff commented that The owner of a 48 unit apartment building at 105 West Keith Road came before North Vancouver City council tast week with a request to. straufy the building which he says is in such bad shape that the turnover rate of tenants 1s up to 33 per cent a month. T.J. Kristainsen, who owns the building known as ‘Simpson House’ said it is in “quite bad shape from top to bottom.” He said he would have to spend about $150,000 to carry oul renovanhions which would include rebuilding the kitchens in the suites and installing a new boiler. These renovations would mean raising the rents from the current $250 a month to in excess of $425 a month, he said. the addition, referred to by one alderman as “a tacky little notice,” could cost “several thousand dollars.” Council also voted to send a letter to other municipalities urging them to protest to the government.
