Award nominee Martin Millerchip, Shaw’s play deals with such
issues as prostitution and poverty. Mrs. Warren, played by Taylor,
runs a high-class brothel in Brussels. Her daughter Vivie, played by
Andrews, is a strong-minded feminist brought up in ignorance of
her mother’s profession. Local acter Cavan Cunningham aiso makes
an appearance as Frank. Tickets, at $10 ($7 for students and

Vocal jazz fest revs up

THE FOURTEENTH annual B.C.
Vocal Jazz Festival comes to North
Vancouver this weekend at Carson
Graham Secondary School.

With up to 50 choirs from
around 8.C., Washington State
and Oregon, the competition
begins Mar. 2. at 9:30 a.m. and
continues through March 3 until 5
p.m. While the judges deliberate,
a mini-concert will be held be-
tween 5 and 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Saturday evening concert,

which begins at 8 p.m., features
Carson Graham Jazz Choir and the
internationally acclaimed vocal
jazz ensemble, Soundwave ‘90
from Vancouver Community Col-
lege. A guest appearance will be
made by Vancouver’s own a
capella group, The Melloyds.

Admission for the competition is
$3 each day. Tickets for the Satur-
day evening concert are $12 and
can be obtained by calling 987-
