Man jailed assaulting officer A 28-YEAR-OLD man of no fixed address was sentenced Tuesday in Norib Vancouver provincial court to 21 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer. Donald Francis Stefanek was originally charged in connection with an Aug. 13, 1988 incident in which a police constable was assaulted. Furnace fire causes damage A FURNACE fire cansed approximately $10,000 damage to a North Vancouver home Friday, Jan. 13. A cesident of 2825 Mount Seymour Parkway arrived home at approximately 11 p.m. and was greeted by the sound of a fire alarm and the sight of a house fall of smoke. The vesident called the North Vancouver District Fire Depart- ment from a aeighber'’s house. Firefighters confined the fire to the furnace area. The bulk of the damage to the home was caused by smoke. A fire department spokespersca said the fire was caused by the ignition of clothing located near the furnace. NV man jailed for 90 days A %-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced Jaa. 13 in North Varcouver provincial court to 90 days in jail after he plead- ed guilty to a charge of break and enter. Robert Johs Campbell was originally charged jointly with Dar- reli Stewart Craig, 26, also of North Vancouver, in connection with a Sept. 15, 1988 incident in which the Keith Lynn Alternate Sec- ondary School in North Vancouver was burglarized. Craig will stand trial on the charge at a iater date. Campbel! will serve his sentence under the electronic monitoring program. NVD community plan to be viewed NORTH VANCOUVER District will be holding open houses focusing on the municipality's new official community plan. The pian will outline proposed broad Iznd-use objectives and policies in the district for the next two decades. The open houses are set for Jan. 31, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the municipal hall, and for Feb. 2, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Seycove Community School. Copies of the draft official pian and background information reports are available at district libraries and at the district's plann- ing department. The seadline for comments on the draft plan is Feb. 28. The official community pian bylaw is scheduled for in- trodaction March 13. A public hearing on the bylaw is plzuned for April 11.
