VESTION: I don't watch much hockey on T.V. during the regular season, but I've been watching quite a bit of the first two rounds of the Stariey Cup playoffs. I have a question to ask you about the violent play of many of the players. To save my life I can't “figure out why the violence has developed to the gruesome scale we now see it, nor am | able to figurg out why it is allowed to continue. This aspect of hockey haS very lit- tle, if anything, to do with sport. So why is it allowed to flourish under the banner of sport? It is mystifying to me that our ‘‘national sport’’ has been allowed, and is current- ly allowed, to degenerate so drastically. Am 1 out of line, or do you feel somewhat the same?
