FIREFIGHTERS FOR North Vancouver City are hosting a Halloween dance on Saturday Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Hall, 170 West 3rd Street, in North Vancouver. Featured at the dance will be firefighter calendar ‘‘pin-ups”’ (left) Gordie, Mr January, (centre) an unidentified ghoul, Dau, Mr. June, end Peter, Mr. August, who will te signing copies of the firefighter calendar Hall of Flame from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Proceeds from the dance will go to The Lions Gate Hospital Society and the North Vancouver City Firefighter scholarship fund. A birding outing is planned for Sunday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Led by Vancouver naturalist Graham Sunderland and his part- ner Barbara Dale, participants will be treated to a detailed account of the birdlife which inhabits Lost Lagoon, the wooded park and the seawall shoreline. Birders can hope to see numerous duck species, songbirds, woodpeckers, loons and grebes. Registration is required by Wednesday, Nov.
