Bollum’s Books To Open in The Galleria Fall “97

Park Royat Shopping Centre will open yet another new chapter in retailing with the opening of the innovative Bollum’s Books. The 18,000 square-foot book store represents the avant-
guard of retailing and promises shoppers an experience unparalleled in the retail environment. “We're making book buying a leisure activity.” says Tom Bollum, founder and president of
Bollum’s Books. Bollum’s Books is already extremely popular in its two existing locations—downtown Vancouver and Caigqary-—-and the Park Royal store will offer even more of the unique
ambiance. It’s easy to see how shopping will become a different and pleasurable experience. There are overstuffed chairs, a replace, cafe and retaxing atmosphere underscore the leisure
aspect of the book store, 85,000 book titles and a newsstand offering 3,000 titles. This new breed of book store has already captured a wide audience and The Georgia Straight’s 1996
title of Vancouver's Best Book store.

Bollum’s Books will be part of the Galleria on the upper {evel of the South Mall. It witl carry six times the selection of a
corner book store, stocking quality books in sought out categories tike business and computers. A children’s departrnent wilt
resemble that of a library and promises a world of information and fun. And should the book of one’s desires not be in steck,
a special order department will track it down by accessing a data base of hundreds of thousands of books. Customers will be
rewarded for their book buying through quality service and service programs like the Private Library Ciub offering a $10 gift
certificate for every $100 spent and best sellers at 25% off. Regularly held author events witl punctuate the store’s activity-
based philosophy as will the special space available to private book ciubs.

The trend to the leisure-based book store began in the United States and entered Canada with the advent of Bollum’s
Books in August of 1995. Despite the superhighways and 100-plus-channel television, Boilum's Books has readily become a
favorite place to visit and while away an hour or so for a diverse range of individuals. Park Royal wil! be home to the third

The Park Royal revival is part of a sweeping movement to satisfy the needs of the customer. Park Royal merchants keep an ear
te the ground and ready themselves for changes in the way you shop, what you shop for, what you like about a store, and more.
Such change is evident with the Take A Walk store being transformed into a Plane: Superstar. “The market around Park Royal
has changed, the demographics are younger,” says Planet Superstar owner Jason Ng. The athletic stere will open mid April and
offer athletic footwear, apparel and accessories from leading manufactures like Nike, Adidas, Fila, Reebok and Champion. The
store itself takes on a very current, clean look with wooden floors and panels. Planet Superstar is part of the Superstar group
which is based in Greater Vancouver, and has played a key role in the North Shore community since 1978.

‘Another leader in retail is the Shoe Tree located in the South Mall’s Galleria. Owners Pat and Gunther Thorson have been
key players in the fashion retail industry for over twenty years, and moved the Shoe Tree to Park Royal approximately 18 months
ago after calling Robson Street home for twenty years. The store carries one of the largest selections of exclusive merchandise
featuring world-renowned designers like Arche from France, and Donald Pliver, Via Spiga. Paloma and Stuart Weitzman of Italy.
They also carry a wide selection of belts and handbags from Italy and Texas, and the very popular Brighton belts and handbags

from the U.S.. It’s quality retailers like these that Park Royal is made of and continues to attract. Simply the best.
