Edmonton takes Grey Cup ‘87

IT WAS a close one but the Edmonton Eskimos took Grey Cup ’87 — beating out the
Toronto Argonauts 38-36 — at B.C. Place Stadium Sunday. Rookie Jerry Kauric’s last-
minute 49-yard field goal gave the Eskimos its two-point lead win. The lead changed five
times in the final quarter and the Eskimos’ 10th Grey Cup title was not put away until
rookie cornerback Stanley Blair —- whose blocked punt Jate in the first half deflated a
dominating Toronto effort — knocked a pass out of slotback Paul Pearscen’s arms with 16
seconds left.
