A member of the Squamish Nation, Tack has always had a talent: for design, which she sefined through courses in textiles arts at) Capilano College. Bur it was three vears at Los Angeles’ famed Otis College of Art and Desivn that helped hone her tasiion sense. While at Otis, Pack com- pleted a work-study assign- ment with Hollywood cos- tumer Nolan Miller, best known for his designs for TV's Dynasty. For her senior-class project, she created a burn- out velvet evening gown with raven design that won her a design award and $5,000 in cash, which is about what Pack would charge for the dress if she ever decided to sell it. Since returning home to the Capilano Reserve three years ago, she’s produced an evening wear collection under the Touch of Culture label.
