The following activities are

Crafts for a Cleaner Planet
— The cost is $5 per session,
for. parents and children aged

p.m.: Summer Nature Walks
—- These walks for the general

grouns) are easy-paced and

‘fast about one hour. Visitors

are offered a glimpse into the
unique world of the temperate

Sunday, july 7: Maplewood
Flats Walk —- Maplewood
Flats is one of the few habitats
left for shorebirds and water-
fowl on Burrard Inlet. Meet at
the south end of the
Environment Canada parking
lot for this introduction to bird-
ing.

Sundays, 10 am. to 1 p.m.:

These guided hikes to various
destinations on the North
Shore are free and suitable for
families and individuals.
Participants learn about natural
history. Pre-registration a
must.

Saturday, July 13: Bird
Houses and Feeders —- Bring
along a hammer and create a
place for birds to nest or feed.
Saturday, July 20: Dyeing
and weaving with planis —
Use local herbs and roots to
dye wool and then make color-
ful weavings with natural

Sunday, Aug. 4: Brothers
Creek Hike —- Follow scenic
Brothers Creek to the
Candelabra Fir and some of the
largest red cedars and Douglas
fir on the North Shore. Meet at
the yellow gate in the 1100-
block of Millstream Road or
ask for detailed directions
when you register. Moderate,
with uphill sections.
Saturday, Aug. 17: Recycled
paper-making — Create new
paper from old paper, then dec-
orate it with colors and your
imagination.
