but they do have more, if not bet-
ter, reasons to draw on when run-
ning an amber.

Please keep this in mind when
you do decide to stop for an amber
light —- check your rear-view mir-
ror to see if the vehicle behind you
can, and intends to, stop us easily
as you are about to and, if not. pro-
ceeding through the amber might ~
be considered more safe. Gosh, I-
can see that bit of advice getting
abused.

Getting caught running an
amber light, by the way. carries the
same penalty as running a red. That
is. three points on your licence and
a $125 fine.

Well. we obviously need a bit of
warning before a traffic light
changes from green to red. More
importanuly, some vehicles are *

than others (i.e. a bus loaded with
passengers or a truck loaded with

traffic lights can be seen from
blocks and blocks away. Look
ahead. folks! Js that green readying
itself for a change? Is the related

Are there a lot of cars bunched up

at the cross-street waiting their
. turn? Has a pedestrian pushed the

opposing street’s crosswalk button?
' There are no excuses for being .
caught off guard by a “sudden”
change in traffic fights — except
poor driving habits.

There are very few excuses for -
‘running an amber: please don’t

abuse them...
