And guys, doa't be fooled by the fact that Stone is in tis film. 1 was surprised by Stone's per- formance as the honest wile, as opposed to her former roles (Basic Instinet, Sliver), | was also. sur- prised, if not disappointed, by the lack of T&A in-a Stone fim. She played her part, clothes and all, to a superb degree. Gere lived up to the standards of his past roles very well. His acting, especially in the accident scene, was well played, Gere’s facial expressions, and his love for nis family and girlfriend moved me. 66 Ona scale devised by myself and my comrades... we give this film two yawns and a snore. 99 Davidovich, untike Stone, pro- vided the only titillating shot, if only for.a mere split second. Her portrayal of the yearning woman was. very convincing. A good per- formance on her part. - The main thing L liked about the movie was the fact that it was filmed and took place in Vancouver —— with Canadian. money, stamps, the full-meal deal. In other words, the director, Mark Rydell, doesn’t try to hide this fact at all,;and por- trays the more stunning scenery of our beautiful city. There were scenes of Gastown, Lonsdale Quay, Canada Place, the otherwise deadly Intersection Burrard Inlet, Grouse Mountain and especially the Sea-to-Sky highway with beautiful shots of the Gulf Islands. Another of the few redeeming qualities that saved this movie was the ancient scene at the end of the movie. The moment was intense and electrifying and recaptured my interest in the film. The cinematography, music and facial expressions during this scene also receive high credit. It is too bad that the whole movie wasn't as interesting as this climactic scene. The producers of the film, Bud Yorkin and Mark Rydell, apparently anticipated this movie as a box-office smash, merely because the appearance of Stone. They were wrong. The screenplay was written by David Rayfiel and Marshall Brickman. Fredrick Golchan is executive producer and Ray Hartwick is co-produc- er of this dull movie. Besides the commendable per- formances by Gere, Stone and Davidovich, the movie is still a flop. It’s too bad the movie itself doesn't reflect the good acting of the stars. ; On a scale devised by myself and my comrades, Steve Rasmus and Dave Runte, we give this film two yawns and a snore. It is not worth the eight bucks admission, nor the standing in long lines on a half-price Tuesday. If you insist-on seeing this movie, | recommend you wait for the video.
