NORTH VANCOUVER City teachers got a glimpse of sculptor Richard Wojciechowski’s artwork-
in-progress, Worth Shore Rhapsody, in the artist’s North Vancouver studio last week. The
Polish-born sculptor was commissioned to create the piece and a hand holding a trumpet for
Roger's Plaza by the City of North Vancouver as part of the city’s art in pubtic places project. |
**We feel that the art in public pfaces initiative was done with the public in mind, so we want to
invite them to see what is happening,’ says project manager Leesa Strimbicki. An open house
at Wojciechowski’s studio, 766 W. Esplanade, has been organized for the public on Tuesday,
Feb. 25. North Shore Rhapsody, which is being fashioned trom concrete and when complete will
stand 15 feet high, and Joe Bustemente, Trumpet, made from concrete and brass, are expected
to be installed in Roger’s Plaza during the final week of March.

CAMPERS PLANNING to bring
their dogs to Schooner Cam-
pground or the Broken Group
Islands in Pacific Rim National
Park are being advised to find an
alternative place for their pets.

Howie Hambleton, acting su-
perintendent of Pacific Rim Na-
tional Park, recently announced
that dogs will no longer be allow-
ed in these areas of Pacific Rim.

The increase in visitors to the
Schooner campsite and the Broken
Group Islands has led to a grow-
ing number of conflicts between
domestic animals and wildlife,

Dogs have been the biggest
problem, as they are often left to
run at large, harassing park
visitors and wildlife.

“For your pets, your carping
neighbors and the park wildlife’s

sake, please leave your dogs at
home when camping at Schooner
Cove and Broken Group Islands
in Pacific Rim,” say park of-
ficials.
