pearls, chunky gold jewelry and
- vivid gemstones are at the top of
_ this year’s Christmas wish list, ac-
cording to the Canadian Jewelers
’ Association (CJA).

The association consulted with
buyers for Canada’s top jewelry
stores to find the hottest trends in
jewelry for the Christmas season.

Pearls in the style of Coco
Chanel are popular, whether they
are opere iength, a choker, or
long, layered sirands. The fashion
experts predict that pearls will be
used as a versatile accessory this
season, worn for formal and party

occasions.

Also emerging as favorites are
bold and lively colored gemstones
reminiscent of the 1920s. In fancy
laser-cut shapes, these gemstones
wil! brighten up a look with new

. ting and neck!ace designs.

A throwback to the ’60s, along
with plaids and bouffant hairdos,
is gold. Chunky, beaded or
sculpted, gold is also a favorite
for Christmas.

According to CJA, another idea
to change a ‘70s classic is to add
dangling colored stones and
charms to hoop earrings for a
fresh look.
