IF YOU want to volunteer but are
uncertain as to the skills you have
to offer, call the North Shore In-
formation and Volunteer Centre
office and arrange for a personal
interview. The following is a sam-
ple of the many volunteer oppor-
tunities available.

BOWLERS. A score keeper and
a person to assist mentally-han-
dicapped athletes with five-pin
bowling is wanted by the Special
Olympics. Volunteer should have
an understanding of the mentally
handicapped, a knowledge of
five-pin bowling and be 18 or 19
years of age. Hours are from 6:30
to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays at a bowl-
ing alley in North Vancouver.

BE A CANDY STRIPER. Care
facilities for seniors are looking for
understanding teens between 14
and 18 years to visit and help feed
seniors one weekday after school 4
to 6 p.m.

“SMOKE FREE”
TEER wanted to present a
“Smoke Free’? program to day
cares and preschools. Come and be
a part of this national strategy to
promote a new generation of non-
smokers. Training is Nov. 7 from 7
to 9 p.m. or Nov. 8 form 1 to 3
p.m.

Auction ‘88

A FUN-FILLED evening is plann-
ed for Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:30
p.m. when Capilano Elementary
School hosts Auction ’88.

In live and silent auctions, par-
ticipants can bid for such items as
a deluxe weekend for two at the
Four Season’s Hotel, a weekend of
free babysitting and a fiand-woven
mohair blanket.

Proceeds will support a five-year
school improvemer: plan. Tickets
at $5 each include one free bever-
age, deli snacks, bidding paddle
and a host of door prizes.

For tickets or to reserve a group

341k. Cash, Visa and Mastercard
are accepted at Auction ’88. The
school is located at 1230 W. 20th
St., North Vancouver.
