HUMAN SERVICES Agency directory is now available THE NORTH Shore Information and Volunteer Centre's (NSIVC) Directory of North Shore Agen- cies and Organizations, 1987/88 edition, is now available to North Shore residents. The publication — a veritable who's who of human services in North and West Vancouver — may be purchased for $5 at the NSEVC office, 1060 Roosevelt Cres., North Vancouver. The directory contains infor- mation on approximately 250 focal community” services, associations, ciubs and gov- ernment departments, In addition to listing each organization, the directory - provides a brief description of the services offered and identifies key personnel. This year's version contains the telephone aumbers of each organization in the index, a feature Dawn Montgomery, in- formation coordinator for the NSIVC, believes will save time for busy professionats. Montgomery says the directory is primarily for peeple wha work with people. “Those working in human and social services use it Jawyers, and bank personnel — professionals who have to make important referrals but don’t know where to turn. “We hope that the guide will also be useful to new residents on the North Shore."’ The guide is published avnual- ly as part of the centre's infor- mation services. The surveys will be used to refine and develop community programs which support women who wish to reduce their sense of ment, The other focus of the project is on developing a volunteer team of women to work individually with women who experience isolation.
