“LEARNING AN earning’ is the theme of many new career
preparation programs planned by North Shore Continuing Education
for the spring term.

John Boden’s Aviation and Aerospace maintenance class will be of
interest to aspiring mechanics and ultralight buffs.

If interested in the hairdressing industry, Olive Williams will lead a
five week program exploring the fundamentals and opportunities in
this field.

For aspiring T.V. or radio reporters, Barbara Whiting will teach
how to build a career on the airwaves.

Scientific illustration is a six-week course by illustrator Debbie
Cannon. She will show you how your drawing or drafting talents can
lead to work in the science worid.

To improve your professional image, Wendy Brown, a fashion
consultant, will lead a three week course for women and a two week
course for men on how to dress for success.

A one day workshop by Bruce Smith on April 25, will teach job
search strategies and interview skills. The popular Career “Choices”
Workshop which uses a computer bank of 885 careers to help you ex-
plore career possibilities will be offered again beginning April 14.

University of British Columbia's Psychology
Department on the use of the Reduced Environment
Stimulation Technique — or REST — to cure chronic
insomnia.

People chosen for the REST project enter one of

people lose weight and stop smoking.

Volunteers for the program should be healthy
adults between the ages of 19 and 45 who regularly
take one hour cr more to fall asleep, who are taking
no medication for physical or mental problems and
who work normal day shifts.
