FOUR LOCAL CHOIRS
Two hundred to

TWO HUNDRED voices will join in song Dec. 7 as
North Vancouver’s Centennial Theatre hosts a four-
choir concert with traditional and modern pieces.

Tie four choirs — the Senior Citizens’ Choir of
West Vancouver, the Highlands United Church Choir,
the Argyle Secondary School Choir and the North
Shore Chorus will perform individually and as a
group, said organizer Heather Ayers. -

The pieces will range from traditional to vocal jazz
and some Christmas songs will also be included. Vocal
jazz, she said, usually means show songs.

Last year, the concert included a medley of the
Beatles’ songs. This year, the repertoire will feature a
nuniber of songs in different languages.

“We're going to do some songs in Swedish and
German,” said Ayers.

Each sroup will sing for 15 minutes and then there
will be three mass songs, two of which will be Christmas
favorites. ‘‘They’ll be just beautiful.”

The 90-minute performance starts at 8 p.m. and
tickets are selling ‘like hot cakes,"' said Ayers, who is
manager of the 50-voice North Shore Chorus.

“But we do stuff from all over,’’ explained Ayers.
“Broadway show and things like that. In the past we
have done songs from Fiddler on the Roof."

The concert organizers are hoping to sell 500 tickets
to the event. Tickets are available by calling Ayers at
985-9272, or at the door before the concert.
