the subject of a one-day
workshop.

The Art of Developing
Friendships, sponsored by
North Shore Family Ser-
vices, will be held Sat., Jan.
25 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30
p.m.

Some researchers suggest
that some people are born
more shy than others.

For tuese people, develop-
ing friends can be hard
work.

They feel uneasy ap-
proaching strangers at a par-
ty, or initiating conversa-
tions even with people they
know,

They may be quite critical

towards themselves, and find
what they say undermines
tatherthan strengthens their
confidence,

In the one-day workshop,
participants will discover
that other people feel similar
to themselves and they will
learn some ways of reaching
out to others.

This can be particularly
useful for single people.

The fee is $15 and it will
be held at the Family Ser-
vices location, 202-145 East
