Trustees reconsider exemption question

The situation erupted at
the end of last school year
when teachers attending a
school board meeting ex-
pected to have a new con-
tract with the board approv-
ed. That contract, which had
been tentatively approved by
negotiators for the two sides,
included provisions for the
Bill 3 exemption.

The trustees balked at
that, gutting the contract of
that provision and instead
passing a motion that said
the distract would not lay off
any permanent teaching stalt
during 1984
