Wooden raccoon decapitated By Layne Christensen Community Reporter GLENN Greensides extends a message to the many visitors to Grouse Mountain: you can look but don’t touch. The internationally recog: nized chain saw artist said his wooden sculptures, which stand in clusters at the peak of Grouse Mountain, receive litde from a public that views them as an elaborate playground. “It’s art, not a jungle gym,” said Greensides at his carving site at the base of the mounrain. The 36-year-old artist is a fixture at Grouse Mountain. He is on contract to create 30 sculp- runes for the mountain's Tribute to the Forest project, a perma- nent exhibidon of Greensides’ carvings. Nineteen sculptures are completed. He recently returned from a tip to Vancouver Island to find vandals had knocked the head off a raccoon on one of two sculptures that stand at the base of the Skyride.
