39 - Sunday, March 18, 1990 - North Shore News Children’s author visits NV library CHILDREN AND teens who have enjoyed the novels of Kit Pearson can meet her in person at Lynn Valley Library during spring break. Pearson first found prominence in 1984, when her short story The Boggart took third prize in the CBC Literary Competition. Her 1988 time travel fantasy novel A Handful of Time won the Cana- dian Library Association Book of the Year for Children Award, and she is currently nominated for the Governor General's Award for Children’s Literature. Her latest novel is The Sky is Falling, which deals with the NEWS photo Neil Lucente culture shock and problems en- countered by a pair of ex-patriate British children evacuated to Canada during the war. As the children adapt to their new en- vironment, they come to terms with their own individuality and discover that differences can be rewarding and special. Pearson will appear at the library, located at 1280 E. 27th St., North Vancouver, on Friday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. Young fans, older students of children’s litera- ture, parents, aspiring writers and other interested adults are invited.
