NORTH SHORE seniors were recently treated to a Christmas dinner at Yic’s restaurant by the Kinsmen
Club of the North Shore. The 20th annual dinner was staffed by about 20 volunteers and included enter-
tainment and a visit by Santa Claus.

Refinery
rates well

PETRO-CANADA Products
recently announced that its Port
Moody Refinery has, for the third
time since 1986, earned the Five
Star Advanced rating, the highest
level in the International Safety
Rating System (ISRS).

The refinery underwent an ex-
tensive four-day audit from Nov.
13 to 17, 1989, conducted by Dr.
Robert Arnold, Internationa! Loss
Control Institute, Atlanta,
Georgia, and Rick Rowan, man-
ager, Safety and Loss Control,
Petro-Canada Inc., resulting in the
five-star rating.

The Port Moody Refinery main-
tains its membership in a select
group of companies who have
earned the Five Star Advanced rat-
ing. Less than one per cent of the
thousands of organizations in 20
countrics using this program
achieve the Five Star Advanced
level of excellence.

to ask him whether he remembered
he was under oath. In other words,
she conducted her own case
thoroughly and well. And the
judze believed her.

She was awarded the full $365
that she had asked for, and the
defendant paid up and apologized
to her.

Now, small claims cases don't
always run this smoothly. Some-
times there are two sides to a story
and the judge will recognize both.
Often, even when a case is suc-
cessful there will be a problem col-
lecting the money, and that’s a
whole other story.

But this is an example of how
you can use this part of the justice
system. It is not necessarily dif-
ficult or expensive and you don’t
need a lawyer. So if you feel
someone is taking advantage of
