NORTH SHORE COUNSELLING CENTRE Charity auction held AUCTION LOVERS will have a chance to bid on an_ eclectic assortment of services and items at the North Shore Counselling Cen- tre’s fifth annual auction. The event will be held on Friday, Feb. 10 at Ron Andrews Com- munity Centre (off Mount Seymour Parkway) in North Van- couver, beginning with a light din- ner. Admission of $10 includes the dinner and a chance at a door prize of tickets for two to Los Angcles, transportation by Canadian Airlines International. Some of the offerings at this live and silent auction include: a choice of luxurious weekends at either Hills Guest Ranch at 100 Mile House or Yellowpoint Lodge on Vancouver Island, diving lessons from the Diving Locker, the Royal Hudson boat/train excursion into Nostalgia (complete with a picnic lunch), a whicewater rafting expe- rience, lunch for four with MLA John Reynolds in the Speaker’s Dining Room, accommodation at Whistler Mountain, fine dining, and a day of pampering at the Secret Garden. Proceeds from this charity auc- tion wili go to the North Shore Counselling Centre, 2104 Gordon Ave., West Vancouver, to help subsidize counselling for low- income clients. The non-profit centre provides professional, ac- credited counselling services to people who need kelp in dealing with stress and change. These services, provided by pas- toral counsellors, cover a broad Tange of issues including mar‘tal and family conflict, depression or anxiety, suicide threats, bereave- ment and difficulties related to the transitional stages of life. Approximately 70 per cent of the centre’s income is collected from fees for services, with the remainder from fund-raising activ- ities, donations and grants.
