It’s not Pierre’s fault QUESTION: lam sure it has come to your notice that there have been tremendous changes in the weather pattern on the North American continent — indeed in most of the free world — in the past two years or so. Witness the astounding increases in the instances of floods, volcanic activity, earthquakes, wind storms, excessive snow, rain and extremes of hot weather and record-breaking cold spells. lc is in my mind that this situation is the result of man- made efforts to wield devastating power over the free world as soon as the clever perpetrators of the scheme become able to perfect the procedures needed. I have found ab- solutely no one who is willing to consider seriously the mind-bogeling significance of what is going on to bring about the paralysis of the free world. Of course, it may well be that our governments are doing something about it but keeping it quiet from the public to avoid panic. STEWART: 1 thought sure you were poing to end up by blaming Mr Trudeau for the weather. but you have a more ingenious novion than that My feeling is that you are an able ley-puller I find it way beyond me to take you senously And anyway. | have a theory of my own that seems more acceptable Why dont | share wt with you” have on good thority (mine! that the people behind our weather conditions have formed a tight litthe group of experts representing Womens Lib. the Amertcan Medical Associauon and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. with help from the Jumior League and the Sea Cadets) You will probably think that) these people are strange bed- persons. but I have reason to beheve that they are the ones who are changing the weather as a part of an over- all plan to perk up) our defense program. She is behaving very badly. I won't tell you what she is doing, but I have told her that she is either a bad woman or a fool. I expected her to get very mad at me but she kept very calm and told me quietly that she was not either bad or foolish but that if I wanted to think of her that way, it was my privilege. She said it made her unhappy, but that she could not help that, it was my choice. Now what can a 15-year old girl say or do to get my mother to see what I think of her? STEWART: Your mother must be quite a lady to hear her daughter's judgement of her without becoming defensive or objectionable. And you must be quite a girl to be as concerned as you are about your mother’s way of life. It seems good to me for you to let her know that you are sad for her and unahppy for her becuase you love her. That ts letting her know how you feel rather than telling her what your opinion of her is. To tell her she is bad or a fool demands that you set yourself up as a judge of another person and none of us has been given that nght or that authority. What she needs from you is your support and understanding and love. You don't need to support all of her actions, but, for her sake, and even more so for your own sake, there is a need for you to support and love HER. It might help you to consider this: when you get yourself into some sort of scrape or difficulty, do you long to have your mother tell you that you are either bad or a fool?
