A12-Wedmesday, September 24, 1980 - North Shore News Helen Moore, chief librarian of North Van- couver City library for over five years has announced that she will be resigning as soon - as a suitable replacement is chosen. The announcement was made Monday by OD. Dashwood-Jones, the chairman of the library board. ~ oe “It's time for a change,” Moore said, when asked .to explain her resignation, ‘and she said that she is parting on Monday September 22 io the Irwin “Park School Gym- nasium; West Vancouver. The ‘trophy was awarded to West Vancouver for being the most active and proficient club at the Junior Forest. Warden National Campout attended by over 600 warden delegates from across Canada and held last July 6 - 12 at Kananaskis Ranch, Alberta. The week long ‘event featured a rodeo, forestry demonstrations, hikes, tours, swimming and a variety of sports activities. A barbecue and dance hosted by the Alberta Government highlighted evening ac- tivities. They centered around a big bonfire located in a natural amphitheatre and featured here were musical shows, tales by renowned story teller Andy Russel and skits and en- tertainment produced by the campers. During the week activities for the different groups (7-9, 10-12, 13-15) were held. After joining the City library in 1973, Moore was appointed ‘as chief librarian ‘in ‘March 1975 when the library moved to its Civic experimental station and fire tower. An Indian firefighting crew of the Alberta Forest Service and a Helicopter with a monsoon. bucket carried out a firefighting display that proved very ‘popular. The fire crew also demonstrated how to set up an emergency camp and baked bannock for everyone — this was served hot with lashings of butter and strawberry jam and had everyone admiring the | talents of these native firefighters. Since the campout was located on the Kananaskis Guest Ranch, a rodeo was held to show the skills of the - cowboy and there was also the chance to go horseback riding every day.
