JOV TELLS ALL SOME 18 months ago the popular Cloudesley Shovell Quenton Hoodspith, former Lions Gate Newspaper owner and publisher, pilot, reporter, champion skier, tennis player and all-around good sport, was rushing time that he would even survive the trip to the hospital and had to get the jaws of life to cut him out of the wreckage. The ambulance attendants kept tatking to him to keep him from going into a coma and rushed him to the hospital in Squamish then transferred him to Lions Gate Hospital where he hovered be- tween life and death. After some tine, they did get him stabilized and then transfer- red him over to Shaughnessy, where he stayed for several weeks. AS soon as he was stronger, they moved him again, this time to the G.F, Strong Rehabilitation Centre to begin his treatments and his return to a new life as a quadriplegic. After more than 18 months of recovering from that near-fatal automobile accident, a long time filled with struggle and pain, hope and humor, Cloudesley was recently discharged and sent home to Squamish. That’s where | talked to him earlier last week. He can't say enough good things about the care more for himself every week and he sounds just as chipper and cheerful as ever! To show just how much better and confident he’s feeling, he and Dorothy flew to Edmonton to at- tend the annual convention of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association.
