Theft charges net jail and fine A 25-YEAR-OLD Vancouver man was sentenced March 28 in West Vancouver provincial court to one day in jail and fined $250 after he pleaded guilty to three theft-related charges. Kim Hoang Huynh was originally charged with two counts of theft under $1,000 in connection with Nov. 20, 1988 and Dec. 31, 1988 incidents in which restaurant receipts and money were stolen from another person. He was further charged with attempting to commit theft in con- nection with a Jan. 15 incident in West Vancouver. Appearing before Judge R.D. Grandison, Huynh was sentenced to a day in jail on each count. The terms will be served concurrent- ly. In addition to the $250 fine, Huynh was ordered to pay $165 in compensation to the victim. Robert Edward Kuit was originally charged in connection with a Jan. 22 incideat in which another male was assaulted in West Van- couver, Creek pollution trial set A JUNE 20 trial date has been set in North Vancouver provincial court for a North Vancouver man and his painting company charged with four counts of polluting the environment, O'Sullivan Painting Lid. and Brian O'Sullivan were jointly charged with two counts of dumping a deleterious substance into waters frequented by fish, and two counts of introducing waste in- to the environment in connection with Sept. 9, 1988 and Nov. 16, 1988 incidents in which waste material from a painting operation was alleged to have been discharged into Lynn Creek, Charges were laid against the company and O'Sullivan following a combined federal-provincial environment n.!- ctry investigation. The trial has been scheduled to take two days. Howe Sound dioxin forum scheduled SQUAMISH'S HOWE Sound Secondary School has scheduled an April 13 public forum that will examine the environmental threat of dioxins in Howe Sound, . Scow, Purcell was fined $150, $100 and $75, respectively, on the charges.
