AWARD-WINNING NV DISTRICT LIBRARIAN TO SPEAK

Children’s books cel

SARAH ELLIS, a librarian with
North Vancouver District libraries
and former coordinator of
children’s services, is the recipient
of the first Sheila Egoff Children's
Book Prize.

Ellis won for her first novel The
Baby Project, a poignant story of
a young girl coping with the loss of
a baby sister.

The award was announced at the
B.C. Book Prizes gala awards
evening held Oct. 30 at the Pan
Pacific Hotel. This is the first time
an award has been made for
children’s literature.

Ellis will be at the Lynn Valley
branch, 1280 E. 27th St., Tuesday,
Nov. {7 at 1:30 p.m. to speak and
read to older students and interest-
ed adults, and at the Seycove
branch, 1204 Caledonia Ave., at
3:30 p.m. the same day to talk to
the Super-Readers Book Club.

Another Canadian children’s
author, Allen Morgan, will be at
the Lynn Valley branch Friday,
Nov.-27 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to

Teachers wishing to bring their
classes to either author visit are

festival with a Canadian Children’s
Book Title contest. Youngsters are
invited to drop by the library to
identify the famous Canadian
