Man jailed on driving charge A 26-YEAR-OLD North Vancouver man was sentenced to 60 days in jai! Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to driving while pro- hibited. John Christopher Cunningham appeared in North Vancouver provincial court to face one charge ot driving while prohibited and one charge of refusing to give his name and address to a police of- ficer. The charges were faid in conneetion with a July 6 incident in which he stopped in a vehicle at the intersection of 4th Street and St. Georges Avenue. After Cunningham pleaded guilty to the first charge, a stay of proceedings was entered in the second charge against hin. Complaints made of sex proposals A MAN who propositioned women by asking for sex was ap- prehended by West Vancouver Police. The 30-year-old man was found to be suffering from-a mental il- Iness, and he was taken to Lions Gate Hospital's psychiatric ward. Two complaints about the man were made in North Vancouver March 2, and later that day three more complaints were received by West Vencouver Police. . The man was arrested at 17th and Bellevue around 10:40 p.m. Also in West Vancouver, a 24-year-old man was charged with two counts of an indecent act. — . The man was seen exposing himself at Park Royal Mall, where he was later arrested by police. NV man jailed in Toronto A SAIL sentence of 20 years was given to a North Vancouver man in Toronto for multiple sex offences, _ Paul Douglas Callow was convicted of five counts of sexual assault in Toronto. Callow was known to the North Vancouver RCMP for various break and enter charges during the 1970s. The Right to Quiet Sociey is concerned that such a facility will result in added noise pollution. “Amidst all the pervading noise of modern life, parks should be as near as possible places for quiet recreation and repose,”’ wrote G. Beitz, society chairman. According to Beltz, local members of the society are not so much worried about the perfor- mance of plays and chamber music, but the possibility of loud amplified rock music. “There is already a considerable problem at Ambleside Beach and Park in summer with loud rock music from ‘ghetto blasters,’ suid Beltz.
