Neat weekend {April 3-4; will see 150 of the top drivers in the Pacific Northwest take to the road course at Mission Raceway Park. The Easter weekend event is the first of an cight-race schedule at) the popular Lower Mainland multi-use motorsport facility. “This is the most aggres- sive schedule of local racing since the days of Westwood in the late 1980s," reports Sports Car Club of B.C, spokesman Mare Rovner, “Our recent driver training course was sold out and we're receiving an amazing level of interest from alot of new dri- vers looking to get involved.” A wide variety of cars, from — purpose-built cube trame open-wheelers to mar: ginally modified street cars compete on Mission’s two kilometre course. Club level racing is the grass roots of the sport and has traditionally provided some of the best spectator entertainment. “So far it looks like 1999 is going to be a year of tremen- dous growth which means better entertainment for focal race fans.” says Rovner.
