Dear Editor:

On Monday evening, June 3,
between 7 a.m. and 7:15 pam. my
mother, an active 82-vear-old, had a
frightening. accident. On her way
north on Granville via BUC. Transit
bus New 14 Hastings. to graduation
ceremonies at the Orpheum, she
ring the belf for the Voeue Theatre
bus stop. and proceeded to disem-
bark through the rear door (as the
bus ‘sign indicates). ;

What followed turned inte a
painful nightmare,

The automatic doors closed on
Cher left foot and my mother, losing
her balance, fell anto the ‘street
below.

My mother was asked by those at
the bus stop if she needed help, and
if she needed an ambulance (she
declined), but she does not recall
that the bus driver came to her assis-
tance. Tn great pain she made her
way to the Orpheum where relatives
helped her home afterwards,

The next day my mother's physi-
